This work emerged as part of an investigation into writing and its ways of representing language. If we approach the act of writing from a phenomenological perspective, the tools become an extension of thought in that constant self-inscription of the self. Historically, ink has given form to the ideas that later consolidated the great changes in history; its effect of authority and permanence has legitimized creation, but also destruction.
The piece is displayed inside a case whose design is reminiscent of antique daggers or firearms. Inside, a pen embedded in resin underscores the impossibility of any use. Dormancy enhances the pause and silence as thresholds of the word, invoking those discourses never spoken, the secrets not revealed, those letters never written. This kind of found amber metaphorically attunes the ineffable and the expressed under the same narrative possibilities, giving voice to those imaginaries that dwell within us in silence.
