Safe is inspired by a selection of major film adaptations of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll's iconic literary work. From each film, I captured with my camera an image of the computer screen at the precise moment when Alice is about to go down the rabbit hole. However, in my reinterpretation of this classic, Alice never actually discovers the world of fantasy. This pause before the unknown invites us to reflect on the constant tension between curiosity and fear of the uncertain.
From this perspective, the piece invites us to reflect on the doors we still do not dare to enter. It also meditates on the excessive protection that others impose on us, often in exchange for giving up dreams that, although they may seem crazy, could define our freedom.
